Jacqueline Fernandez skipped the questioning before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for the third time on Saturday. She was asked to appear before the agency and record her statement with a money laundering case being probed against alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekar and his partner Leena Paul. The summon was issued to her to appear on Saturday after she did not turn up on Friday before the ED for a second time, however, she reportedly informed the officials that she won't be able to join the investigation.
On August 30, Jacqueline had appeared before the probe agency for the first time. ED officials had said that she was being examined as a witness in the case. Her statement was recorded under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Earlier this week, Nora Fatehi recorded her statement with the ED in this case. Her team issued a statement saying she has been called by ED as a witness in the case.
It stated, "Nora Fatehi has been the victim around the case, and being a witness, she is co-operating and helping the officers in the investigation. We would like to make it very clear that she has not been a part of any money laundering activity, she does not know or have any personal connection with the accused and has been called by ED to strictly help with the investigation."
